Evolution of India's Entertainment Industry: From TV to Streaming

The decade approaching from 2000’s was considered a transfiguration period for the entertainment landscape in India. There was a huge change in the way Indian audiences interact with the media, with the use of digital cable and satellite television, the increase in the sale of DVDs, and the early introduction of streaming services being some of the markers. It highly used digital platforms and gave them more signup rates.The media and entertainment industry has greatly transformed and this is visualized by the growth, spreading of smart TVs and the evolution of technology. Streaming services are the main drivers of the digital era in 2020 me(in which), gone are the days when the viewers were physically limited or tied to watch the TV programs only live. This change has brought the broad variety of content people can watch in their homes through these services. This new media reality does not only involve getting rid of traditional cable and satellite services.The very enlargement of the demand for live streaming media and the varieties of platforms like PlutoTV, YouTube, and Twitch that are in-demand are some of the reasons that are seeing niche streaming platforms coming up. Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video don't have a monopoly over the scene as of now. In addition to the subscription video-on-demand platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime, OTT streaming platforms were brought into existence. The developing market of these streaming services has therefore become more competitive than ever before as the services featured myriads of movies, series, and even shows. Thus, consumers have more choices in shows and movies than others since they can decide which platforms they paid subscriptions to for the best available content.

Rise of Digital Cable and Satellite TV

In the early days, India's television industry was nearly dominated by the government-controlled Doordarshan. It was in the early 2000s when we witnessed a quick shift to the other sector, we can see a great improvement in the TV industry of India after they introduced the digital cable and also the satellite channels that pretentious most companies that were providing the digital cables to the viewers in India. The rapid growth of cable and satellite TV in India led to the expansion of the DVD market. Renting a DVD player and video rental services became widely visible in the early 2000s. One cannot imagine the media and entertainment industry today without the AI technology which is one of the biggest sources of the personalization revolution. This system of personalization gives the user new ways of finding other content that is most consistent with the individual's tastes. The fact that the streaming platforms use AI to pin personalized watchlists, suggest shows and movies which are rather relevant, or come up with ideas like what one should watch depending on his/her mood or time of day is a key factor of their popularity. Additionally, artificial intelligence-powered applications are also employed for content processing like automated video editing and CGI, which overall results in the method being less time-consuming, user-friendlier, and more appealing to the consumers.

After various battles, he unites Macedonian and Paurava forces, defeats Dhana Nanda, and establishes the Mauryan Empire. The series is a historical drama that is set in a period of history and concentrates on themes of loyalty, betrayal, and ambition thrashed out between the characters. They are garnering viewing ratings as they tune in for a thrilling historical drama but in turn, intense battles, strategic alliances, as well as complex characters are shown at the same time in which people are amazed. As the name suggests, the genealogy of the Goths combines political maneuvering, epic military campaigns, and intimate portraits of the characters to create the narrative. Turning cricket players who are not known at all into the biggest stars is the main essence of the IPL besides other things such as its pan-Indian reach and its great ability to harness and even export talent. It has been here for 15 years now and it is growing from year to year. It has become not only the global center but also the latest show in cricket.

To conclude, the media and entertainment landscape has been enormously transformed since the 2010s due to the development of such devices as Smart TV, streaming services and the swift shift to various devices. The combination of AI and personalization has played a part in this change making the industry offer a more bespoke and interactive experience to the users. The advance of technology is a natural process that will become even more attention-grabbing as these trends develop into the future and we can only wonder what new things will emerge in the media-tech world.
