YouTube is Working on an AI Radio Function, Allowing Users to Write Words to Listen to Music

YouTube appears to be making a comeback, announcing once more that it would be implementing an AI radio prompt. A generative AI function that allows you to provide a prompt to build a bespoke radio is reportedly being tested by YouTube Music.

It appears that you may now request that AI make a radio channel in the style of your choice. A perceptive Reddit user named kater_pro revealed that this experimental capability is now being made available to a select few.

Get a radio station of your own

As per 9to5Google, once the app/device/account is pushed out, you may use an AI prompt to make your own radio channel. How then may one use the feature? Here's how you can do it:

In your home feed, a card with the title "Ask for music any way you like" will first appear.

Take note of the "Start radio" button being included.

After that, a purple or pink prompt will appear on your screen, like the recurring "Create a radio: Your music tuner" card.

This launches a chat-based user interface, where you may "Ask for music" in the space at the bottom.

Ultimately, it opens in fullscreen mode with a second "Experiment" badge located in the upper-right corner.

With the "music tuner" card that was given its own Library tab > New FAB shortcut earlier this year, you may now play your own radio.

Radio channel created by AI

In a blog post, 9to5google stated, "You can also enter a prompt via voice, with YTM explaining how AI-generated responses are experimental." The blog also stated that there may be variations in accuracy and quality. It's also crucial to remember that you shouldn't enter private or sensitive information about you or other people.

Additionally, a two-line carousel of recommended questions is anticipated from YTM. For instance, "Surprise me," "Epic soundtracks," "Catchy pop choruses," and "Upbeat Pop Anthems."

Nevertheless, it appears that the AI radio creator for YouTube Music has only been mentioned once. We examined devices and it's not showing up, as 9to5google further emphasized. It appears that the functionality is currently in testing. Seeing how it functions after it's rolled out would be interesting!

The path ahead in music

According to early reports, YouTube wants to use upfront payments to win over an industry that is skeptical. It appears like YouTube is attempting to give AI-generated music a new, positive spin.

The topic of "AI in music" and copyright concerns appears to have been the subject of constant discussion over the past few years. It appears that YouTube wants to alter this viewpoint.
