Beginning on July 26, a 28-person Indian athletics team will compete in the Paris Olympics, led by defending champion Neeraj Chopra.

The 26-year-old javelin throw world champion and gold medalist from the Tokyo Games has chosen to miss this weekend's last Diamond League in Paris so that she can get ready for the quadrennial spectacle, even if practically all of the selected stars are anticipated.

The roster consists of 17 men and 11 women athletes. Avinash Sable, Tejinderpal Singh Toor, and sprint hurdler Jyothi Yarraji, among others, are notable athletes and winners of the Asian Games.

There will also be intense attention in the men's 4x400m relay team, which consists of Muhammad Anas, Muhammad Ajmal, Amoj Jacob, and Rajesh Ramesh. This team caused quite a stir when it overtook the USA team in a heat at the last World Championships.

From August 1 to August 11, the track and field events will take place at the Stade de France.

A mixed-relay marathon race walk event has been added by World Athletics, however the men's 50-kilometer race walk has been removed from the Olympic schedule.
