Pornography will now be permitted on Elon Musk's social media platform X (previously Twitter), according to the company's revised regulations governing "Adult Content and Violent Content," which was released today. The "new policies" replace the "former Sensitive Media and Violent Speech policies" with the intention of enhancing "transparency in their enforcement" and offering more "clarity" about the content regulations.

Furthermore, it stated that the social media site has allowed adult nudity or sexual content, including artificial intelligence (AI)-generated, photographic, or animated projections.

X's remarks on "adult" and "violent" content

According to the social media site, "Violent Content covers violent speech and violent media to allow for a more holistic approach to combating violence in all forms," and "Adult Content covers our approach to sharing consensual sexual content and adult nudity."

How to use X to indicate material

The social networking site advised users who post pornographic content on X to change their media settings so that these kinds of photos and videos are hidden behind a content warning. Additionally, individual postings will have the opportunity to have a one-time content warning added to them.

All harmful content will be prohibited

X will continue to prohibit harmful or non-consensual pornographic content, as well as any content that encourages people's objectification or harm to kids, according to the statement. Adult content will not be permitted on profile photographs, banners, or other publicly viewable areas, according to the social networking site.

How about underage users?

Users under the age of 18 or who have not supplied their birth date on the social networking site will be unable to see posts tagged with adult material.
