Amazon Prime Video to Limit Password Sharing Starting in 2025
Amazon Prime Video has opted to create a limit on password sharing in India, effective from 2025. As per the policy, a user can log on to a maximum of five devices, which shall include two televisions. The projects were the last in a series of actions by Netflix to curb account sharing.
An email sent to Amazon Prime subscribers stated, “As part of your Prime membership, you and your household are entitled to enjoy Prime Video on up to five devices. Starting January 2025, we are updating our usage terms in India to include up to two TVs as part of your five devices entitlement. You can manage your devices on your Settings page or buy another Prime membership to watch Prime Video on more devices."
Currently, Amazon Prime members can log in to up to 10 devices without any additional restrictions. However, with the upcoming changes, users will be limited to connecting no more than two TVs. This could present challenges for some users. Despite these new limitations, Prime Video will still allow up to five devices to be logged in simultaneously.
Previously, the face of streaming declared that as of 2025, work-in-progress would be presenting adverts to active subscribers when watching TV shows and movies. But it said that their schedule for adverts was comparatively lighter than conventional TV or other streaming platforms. Further, it is also going to launch an ad-free tier in India soon.
