The International Cricket Council has reportedly agreed ‘in principle’ to host the 2025 Champions Trophy under a hybrid model with a condition that all matches of India be played in Dubai, instead of traveling to Pakistan that has been formally requested by the Indian Board of Control for Cricket in India. The Pakistan Cricket Board has called for extending the hybrid model to all ICC and Asian Cricket Council tournaments and also announced that Pakistan will not tour India until 2027.

The new hybrid model for hosting the Champions Trophy was largely agreed informally at the ICC headquarters in Dubai on Thursday. The meeting included the new ICC President Jay Shah and Board of Directors including representatives from Pakistan.

According to ICC reports, "It's been agreed in principle by all parties that the 2025 Champions Trophy will be held in the UAE and Pakistan with India playing its matches in Dubai. It's a win-win situation for all stakeholders."

Pakistan Won’t Tour India For ICC, ACC Tournaments Till 2027

Pakistan confirmed its conclusion of not touring to India for any ACC or ICC tournaments until 2027. India is set to host Asia Cup 2025 and Women's T20 World Cup 2025 followed by ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. Currently, Pakistan has no plans to play in India for those tournaments at all in future.

Further, the ICC report says, "During the 2026 men's T20 World Cup, Pakistan will play its matches in Sri Lanka. The compensation demanded by PCB for the Champions Trophy hybrid model is still under consideration."

Pakistan played their last One Day International match at the Narendra Modi Stadium during the World Cup 2023, India won with a big margin in that match. Further, any match between India and Pakistan will never take place on Indian soil until 2027.
