Instagram is preparing to launch a generative AI editing feature next year, allowing users to alter almost every aspect of their videos. Powered by Meta’s Movie Gen AI model, the feature was previewed by Instagram head Adam Mosseri. The tool is designed to provide creators with advanced editing capabilities, removing the need for in-depth video editing skills and making content transformation more accessible.

Adam Mosseri revealed that Instagram's upcoming AI editing feature will enable users to make video adjustments using simple text prompts. A preview of the feature demonstrated how it could alter aspects like clothing, backgrounds and appearances.

In one example, Mosseri’s outfit, surroundings, and even his appearance were transformed, with a demo turning him into a felt puppet. The preview also showed subtle edits, such as adding objects to the background or a gold chain to his outfit, showcasing the tool’s ability to make precise changes without impacting other elements.

Meta has not yet announced a release date for its Movie Gen AI model, but the company has confirmed that Instagram will be the first platform to incorporate this text-to-video technology, marking a major milestone in its deployment.
