PVR Inox Introduces Innovative Theatrical Billing: Pay Only for What You Watch

Not all movies keep the audience seated until the end credits roll. Others observe recurrent viewers who only see a portion of it before leaving. Who knows it better than PVR Inox, which is currently writing a new billing script. It is introducing a 'Pay for What You Watch Model' in theaters known as FLEXI Show.

It will allow the audience to exit the venue at any point throughout the film while simply paying for the time spent watching it.

Renaud Palliere, chief executive officer of PVR Inox's premium collection and innovation, stated that as an entertainment firm, they must develop in terms of the items they offer.

This project is still in its experimental stage, but certain shows are currently showing in certain cinemas throughout Delhi NCR and Gurugram.

Palliere said that the FLEXI Show function will require an additional 10% of the ticket price.

"We will employ innovative technologies, such as AI-powered video analytics, to track who is sitting in the auditorium. The ticket is linked to your (the audience's) seat, so the system knows when you arrive and depart. This technology will also calculate how much of the movie you saw and determine your refund using established brackets," Palliere added.

The refund is calculated based on the amount of time left in the movie when a person leaves. For example, if 50% of the movie is left, the person will receive a 50% refund; if 25% to 50% is left, the person will receive a 30% refund; and if more than 50% is left, the person will receive a 60% refund.

"Through this, we are looking at broadening the audience base and also as a result fostering repeat viewers, due to the notion of flexibility being a big selling point where people can feel that they can actually watch a show multiple times and be able to enjoy the cinema on a more flexible basis," Palliere added.

He went on to say that the primary target for expanding this product is in Tier I cities.
