Shah Rukh Khan's Heated Debate at the Mega IPL Auction
Shah Rukh Khan, a celebrated icon of Hindi cinema and owner of Kolkata Riders, has recently made headlines following the Indian Premier League owners’ meeting in Mumbai on Wednesday.
SRK and Ness Wadia Clash Over Mega Auction
According to Cricbuzz, Shah Rukh Khan, and other team owners recently attended an IPL meeting at the BCCI headquarters to debate the importance of a mega auction.
During the meeting,KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan, who opposed the auction, reportedly had a heated argument with Punjab Kings’ Ness Wadia regarding the number of player retention. SRK advocated for the maximum number of player retention, while Ness, who co-owns Punjab Kings with preity Zinta and others.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Owner Kavya Maran Backs Shah Rukh Khan’s KKR
The report also said that Kavya Maran, owner of Sunrisers Hyderabad, shows her support for Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders. In a declaration to the portal, Kavya spotlighted that building a team and nurturing young players is a lengthy process. She used SRH player Abhishek Sharma as an example, mentioning that it took him three years to achieve consistent performance, and noted that many players on other teams follow a similar path. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals owner Parth Jindal, who supported the mega auction, was “surprised” by the ongoing debate about its execution.
BCCI Decision still Awaited
While the BCCi has not yet made a decision, the board declared in a press release that it will discuss the matter with the IPL Governing Council before finalizing the IPL player Regulations.
The Mega auction will dominate the number of player retention, and the BCCI is expected to announce the rules by the end of August.
Shah Rukh Khan’s team, the Kolkata Knight Riders, won the Indian Premier League 2024 by 8 wickets, defeating SRH in the final match held on May 26 this year.
SRK co-owns the team with Juhi Chawla and her husband, Jay Mehta.
